American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN with a Michigan license and combined adult/pediatric emergency department experience for a 13-week assignment.
Details- 27-bed Emergency Department in a rural hospital setting
- Primary Stroke Center currently seeking Trauma IV designation
- Average daily census of 76 patients
- Patient population spans neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Staffing ratio of 1:4-5 on all shifts
- Treats a wide range of presentations including chest pain, respiratory distress, mental health evaluations, OB/GYN emergencies, sepsis, stroke, abdominal pain, sprains/strains/fractures, trauma, and cardiac arrest
- Unit includes 2 designated resuscitation rooms and 4 dedicated mental health preferred rooms
- SANE dedicated room with on-call forensic nurse
- 24/7 board-certified ED providers, charge nurses, triage nurse, and house supervisor coverage
- Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within service line/scope of practice as needed
- Uses Pyxis medication system
- Epic EMR required
- Active MI RN license required in hand
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
- Combined adult/pediatric ED experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC
- CPI certification preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- 1:4 patient ratio experience required
- Skills required:
dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central line care/management, phlebotomy, IV insertion and maintenance, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressor administration, procedural sedation administration - Experience with CVA, neuro-trauma, traumatic brain injury, and ortho-trauma required
- CPAP/BiPAP management and ABG interpretation required
- Experience caring for ventilated patients required
- Experience with gunshot wounds and isolation precautions required
- Triage experience required
- Arterial line management and spinal cord injury experience preferred
- Provide emergency care across all patient ages and acuity levels in a fast-paced ED environment
- Work alongside 24/7 board-certified providers, charge nurses, triage nurses, and house supervisors
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Navy scrub color required
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Requested time off of 7+ days requires manager approval, and time off is not granted on or around major holidays
