The primary function of the Estimator is to provide accurate quantity takeoffs and pricing for assigned projects, ensuring competitive, complete, and well supported proposals.

Position Description

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Takeoffs

• • Provide accurate quantity takeoffs for all scopes of work associated with assigned projects.
  • Develop pricing models that incorporate labor, materials, equipment, and appropriate means and methods.
  • Exercise sound judgment in evaluating vendor pricing, labor productivity, equipment needs, and transportation costs to produce complete cost estimates with appropriate profit margins.

Proposal Development

• • Prepare and manage bid proposals for all projects estimated.
  • Lead bid and scope review meetings with clients as needed.
  • Assist the Estimating Director in developing new client relationships and supporting business development efforts.

Collaboration & Handoff

• • Attend final buyout meetings for awarded projects.
  • Lead job handoff meetings from the Estimating team to the Project Management team.
  • Assist Project Managers with pricing change orders on existing contracts when needed.

Relationship Building

• • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, and general contractors.
  • Support recruitment efforts for new estimators and interns.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new team members.

Operational Support

Incorporate safety considerations into estimating means and methods.

• • Provide support to operations staff by reviewing production rates, tracking quantities, and using that information to improve current and future estimates.

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is required.

Experience & Skills

• • Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of concrete paving, foundations, structural concrete, flatwork, and tilt-up construction, as well as familiarity with related tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, specifications, and legal documents.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with a proactive, forward-thinking mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with contractors, suppliers, clients, and internal teams.
  • Highly self-motivated and entrepreneurial, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
