Project Manager - Vee-Jay Cement Contracting

The primary function of the Project Manager is to support field operations and ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable execution of projects throughout their full lifecycle. This role requires strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with a solid understanding of concrete construction methods.
Position Description
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Scheduling
- Create and maintain the overall project schedule.
- Coordinate task durations with clients to ensure schedules are realistic and mutually agreed upon.
- Collaborate with Superintendents to develop and implement site logistics and phasing plans.
- Develop and implement project-specific quality programs.
- Delegate and coach project team members to ensure high-quality work and minimize rework.
- Support onsite quality control efforts, including documentation of concrete mixes, quantities, and rental equipment usage.
- Create initial cost spreads and project budgets.
- Track labor production rates and compare them to estimated values.
- Coordinate with Superintendents and Foremen on production reviews.
- Prepare and submit change orders.
- Process and submit field work order tickets.
- Review plans and specifications to ensure clarity and compliance.
- Work with Superintendents, Foremen, and field crews to resolve construction conflicts.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to ensure timely delivery and installation per project schedule.
- Understand and promote company and site-specific safety policies.
- Attend weekly jobsite meetings as required.
- Maintain strong communication with clients, field teams, and internal departments.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the construction industry.
- Advanced knowledge of concrete construction means and methods.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, specifications, and legal documents.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with a proactive, forward-thinking mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
