Location: Affton High School

Details: One-year only contracted teaching position for the 2026-27 school year, 9½-month professional position (1.0 FTE) with paid sick and personal leave. District-provided benefits package includes health, dental, life and vision insurance.

Compensation: Salary in accordance with the 2026-27 Teacher Salary Schedule. Placement determined by education and like experience in accordance with board policy.

Job Summary: The successful candidate will be part of high-energy and enthusiastic teams of professionals, dedicated to meeting the academic, social, and emotional needs of students. Successful candidates are reliable, show initiative, and are self‑motivated and self-directed. Must work with all students and staff to provide academic, social, and behavior support for the school.

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in education
• Appropriate Missouri Teaching Certification in Social Studies (9-12) required
• Prior teaching experience in a secondary school setting preferred
• Ability to produce engaging lessons in person and virtual settings required
• Ability to listen well and take initiative to solve problems required
• Strong organizational skills and self‑motivation required
• Ability to work with a multi‑ethnic, multicultural student population required
• Ability to remain flexible and positive with the demands and assignments of the job without losing sight of the mission, task or assignment required
• Ability to work independently, use good judgment, and think quickly and rationally in stressful situations required
• Ability to effectively present information, respond to questions, and interact positively with students, staff, administration, and community required
• Ability to work as a team player, communicate and collaborate with administration, staff, and other professionals required
• Willingness to learn new material and attend professional development, conferences and workshops required
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required
