LOCATION: Affton High School
DETAILS: 9.5-month support staff positions with district-recognized holidays and paid sick and personal leave. Leave time may be prorated based on start date. Positions are full‑time, 37.5 hours per week, with benefits that include health, dental, life and vision insurance.
COMPENSATION: According to the Support Staff Pay Schedule within the Certified Staff Assistant and Staff Assistant ranges. Those with a Teaching Certification begin at Level G, Step 1 with $20.96 per hour. Those with a Substitute Certification begin at Level B, Step 1 with $16.74 per hour. Placement within the ranges of the 2026‑27 Support Staff Pay Schedule is based on experience and education.
JOB SUMMARY: Assist the administration by providing support to school educational programs through appropriate classroom supports, activities, and learning environments, enabling students to learn effectively and ensuring a smoothly functioning program.
Qualifications- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- To obtain a Substitute Certification, one of the following must be met in addition to a high school diploma:
- 60 college credit hours.
- Associate’s degree or higher.
- Missouri Para Pro Assessment passing score (before September 23, 2013).
- Missouri Paraprofessional Assessment passing score (after September 23, 2013).
- Completed Missouri’s 20‑hour online substitute training program.
- Missouri Teaching Certification is preferred.
- Experience working in a school setting is preferred.
- Experience working with children is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, email, etc. is preferred.
- Experience working with office equipment is preferred.
- Excellent attendance.
- The ability to listen well and respond to questions from students in a professional manner is required.
- The ability to redirect and interact positively with students is required.
- The ability to work independently, use good judgment, think quickly, and respond to situations in a calm, caring manner is required.
- The ability to remain flexible and positive with the demands of the job without losing sight of the mission, task or assignment is required.
- The ability to work as a team player, communicate and collaborate with staff is required.
- The ability to develop effective working relationships with students and the school community is required.
- The ability to work with a multi‑ethnic, multicultural student population is required.
- The willingness to learn new material and, as needed, attend professional development is required.
