Position: Production Supervisor (night shift)

Night Shift Production Supervisor

We are currently seeking a Night Shift Production Supervisor responsible for overseeing nightly manufacturing operations while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, food safety, and operational standards. The role provides frontline leadership to production teams during the night shift, ensuring efficient production flow, staffing coordination, and timely resolution of operational issues in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Safety:
    • Ensure consistent enforcement of safety policies including PPE use.
    • Communicate safety awareness and maintain safe working conditions.
    • Responsible for appropriate safety trainings and communications.
    • Ensure timely incident reports are filled out within 24 hours.
    • Involvement in safety walk‑through audits and follow‑up on findings.
    • Actively support employee participation in safety programs and provide resources.
  • Quality:
    • Adhere to the production schedule in compliance with quality standards.
    • Enforce company quality policies, GMP compliance, and all food safety regulatory standards.
    • Communicate with QC to address support needs and changes.
    • Maintain a high level of sanitation and housekeeping.
    • Sanitize equipment and CIP before manufacturing starts.
    • Guard against product contamination and review corrective actions.
    • Participate in monthly self‑audits and implement corrective actions.
  • Process Management:
    • Maintain adherence to the daily schedule and monitor online performance.
    • Maintain shop floor presence to address line issues in a timely manner.
    • Ensure housekeeping, zoning, and GMP of mixing, batching, and packaging lines.
    • Apply technical understanding of lines for maintenance and root‑cause troubleshooting.
    • Balance shop floor presence with administrative duties.
    • Coordinate rework process for held products.
    • Understand CIP performance and serve as the go‑to person for operators.
    • Understand the entire process from raw materials to finished goods for scheduling decisions.
    • Maximize online times for all lines with a target of 80% uptime.
  • People Management:
    • Recruit new employees and determine temporary labor needs.
    • Ensure proper labor deployment, follow HR policies, and follow up on violations.
    • Spend shop floor time with operators to develop action plans for improvement.
    • Train employees on new machines, equipment, and SOPs.
    • Evaluate employees through performance reviews, coaching, and feedback.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Continuously improve performance based on key performance indicators.
    • Measure operational efficiency and identify sources of unnecessary downtime.
    • Monitor shift performance and coach team based on observations and data gathering.
    • Develop a proactive mindset to address problems promptly and liaison with manufacturing teams.
    • Contribute to problem resolution through PSG efforts.
    • Communicate within the department regarding conditions requiring attention or decisions.
  • Environmental Responsibilities:
    • Implement quality standards, programs, and processes to reduce waste and held product.
    • Support environmental programs, including power conservation techniques.
    • Ensure operators scrape equipment and dispose of oil‑based product before wash downs.
    • Proactively look for ways to reduce negative environmental impacts.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
  • 5‑7 years supervisory/management experience required; food manufacturing preferred.
  • English language proficiency.
  • Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Track record of problem solving.
  • Strong organizational skills and autonomy.
  • Leadership and outstanding communication skills.
  • Computer literacy required.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraints.
  • Ability to operate in a team environment.
  • Ability to adapt in a changing work environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work 12‑hour shifts (alternating weekend schedule).
