Gas Station Sales Associate

Join Our Team as a Gas Station Sales Associate at Crownway Mart #3!

We are looking for a team member with skills in excellent customer service, time management, organizational abilities, cash handling, accounting, stocking, rotating, and displaying of merchandise. The team member will ensure the store is kept clean inside and outside, the carwash is clean, and safety procedures are followed.

• Greet and welcome customers to the store
• Operate computerized cash register
• Verify age as 21 and older before selling tobacco and liquor products
• Ring out merchandise and ensure payment is completed via credit, debit, EBT or cash
• Ensure correct change is returned for cash transactions
• Bag merchandise for customers
• Stock shelves and front-face items hourly
• Stock cooler completely at every visit, ensuring sold items are restocked and maintain cooler log hourly
• Clean and maintain fountain, coffee and food area hourly
• Clean lot and review every 3 hours during shift
• Clean pumps and wipe down every other shift
• Suggestive selling of merchandise and assist customers to locate merchandise
• Complete shift paperwork accurately and maintain drawer within $3 short or $3 over; report inconsistencies
• Clean restrooms daily and check every 3 hours; clean deli equipment, dust shelves and merchandise daily; clean windows and doors every other shift; empty trash cans every 4 hours unless less than 30% full; sweep and mop as needed
• Use fire extinguisher and other safety equipment as trained
• Deter and detect shoplifters
• Check in vendors and ensure merchandise is delivered complete
• Listen and handle customer complaints
• Advise store manager of situations or policy violations affecting team members and store operating performance
• Answer and screen telephone calls properly
• Sweep lot and clean gas pumps; fill water/cleaning solution buckets on islands
• Upsell carwash and cleaning products to customers
• Thank every customer after ringing them out and invite them back

• Operate a calculator with accuracy and speed
• Operate lottery machine and be accountable
• Adhere to all policies and safety rules
• Wear proper uniform and maintain personal hygiene to meet health standards
• Maintain a professional attitude and teamwork in customer service at all times
• Lift up to 50 lbs
• Work in a walk-in cooler for up to one hour and sign cooler log
• Hep A vaccination as per City of St. Louis ordinance #68597 and St. Louis County Section 807.305 SLCRO

High school diploma or GED; related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must be able to work with customers and co-workers and be able to work all shifts, weekends, nights and holidays.
