School Adjustment Counselor
Agawam High School, part of Agawam Public Schools, is a comprehensive high school serving students in grades 9‑12. The school is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and collaborates with the community to promote the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of its students.
Job Description- Provide a comprehensive, developmental school counseling program for all students in grades 9‑12.
- Coordinate activities to address student needs.
- Consult and collaborate with teachers, parents, and staff to enhance effectiveness in helping students.
- Assist with other junior high school educational programs.
- Plan, organize, and deliver the school counseling curriculum.
- Provide individual student planning activities.
- Offer responsive services through facilitation of small groups and one‑to‑one counseling for students with specific needs.
- Consult and collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents/guardians to understand and meet developmental needs.
- Refer students with critical needs to appropriate community resources in consultation with parents/guardians.
- Provide system support by participating in activities that contribute to the effective delivery of the school counseling program in the district.
- Plan, implement, evaluate, and revise the school counseling program.
- Pursue professional growth and participate in professional development opportunities.
- Licensed as a School Social Worker or School Adjustment Counselor – All Levels.
- Experience working as a School Adjustment Counselor and with separate special education programs preferred.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
- Three letters of reference required.
