Based on-site in Agawam, MA, this role assists in managing the technical lifecycle of GAC products by delivering expert sales support and field service via phone or in person. Key functions include system recommendations, providing real-time technical troubleshooting, conducting customer training, and performing on-site visits. The role also oversees the creation and management of service documentation. Collaboration is required across all GAC disciplines, specifically Engineering, Quality, and Production, to align technical solutions with organizational standards.

Domestic and international travel may be required for approximately 20% of the role’s activities.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a related industry (e.g., engine manufacturing, industrial equipment, generator packaging, or vehicle controls) and exposure to customer-facing roles such as technical sales, application engineering, or customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Assist sales team in recommending correct GAC solutions to customer directly and indirectly.
  • Assist in developing customer satisfaction metrics and implement improvement programs.
  • Provide technical support for a variety of promotional sales programs.
  • Assist in the development of product literature and marketing materials.
  • Train new sales staff and customers on the technical aspects of GAC products.
  • Travel as a technical sales resource for training and new opportunities.
Technical Support
  • Deliver comprehensive technical support for GAC products through phone and email to ensure rapid issue resolution and customer satisfaction.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) on GAC and competitor product lines to provide strategic insights and become the preferred resource for customers.
  • Plan, create, conduct or deliver customer training material, technical presentations, product demonstrations and trial installations of equipment upon request.
  • Oversee customer returns, ensuring swift RMA turnaround and clear communication of reports/corrective actions to quality engineering to drive continuous product improvement.
  • Provide support and services to customers regarding the use, operation, and maintenance of GAC products on equipment.
  • Understand and clearly communicate customer requirements to product engineering, manufacturing and quality teams.
  • Analyze testing data and reports with engineering to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications.
Product Development
  • Propose engineering product plans with specifications, assist product development activities in all departments.
  • Assist in developing internal plans to improve existing products or provide service-related requirements for new products.
  • Support the development of field trial specifications and test site selection in coordination with Quality and Product Engineering.
Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with diverse groups, end users, managers, and other subject matter experts.
  • Demonstrates the ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and simplify them into easily understandable communication.
  • Demonstrates initiative, creativity and attention to detail with the ability to multitask and prioritize activities to meet program deadlines and goals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including patience, clarity of communications, and commitment to team approaches.
  • Experience authoring and editing end user technical documents that address internal and external customer requirements.
  • Ability to review and understand Solid Works and AutoCAD drawings.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Must be a proactive self-starter who requires minimal supervision.
  • Relevant industry knowledge of the industrial diesel and gas engine market is desirable.
  • Previous application engineering in a technical field is desired.
  • Multi-lingual ability is a plus.
Education and/or Experience

B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics preferred) or 5+ years of equivalent industry experience.

Physical Demands

This role requires a high level of physical engagement, including regular standing, walking, and the ability to ascend/descend stairs. Candidates must be capable of moving equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. frequently and carrying up to 10 lbs. while traversing stairs. Success in this role requires the stamina for short and long-distance travel and the visual precision to inspect objects closely, judge distances accurately, and distinguish colors.
