Full-Time Turn Opportunities Into Profitable, Production-Ready Work

Parts Tool & Die, LLC is looking for an Estimating and Procurement Specialist who can bring accuracy, urgency, and sound commercial judgment to our quoting and purchasing process.

This is a highly visible position for someone who enjoys analyzing manufacturing requirements, working with suppliers, negotiating competitive pricing, and coordinating across multiple departments. You will help determine how PTD pursues new opportunities and ensure that awarded work moves quickly from the quoting stage into production.

Your work will directly influence our ability to win profitable business, protect margins, meet customer commitments, and keep production supplied with the materials, tooling, and services it needs.

About the Role

The Estimating and Procurement Specialist owns the day-to-day workflow associated with quoting, supplier sourcing, purchasing, and procurement follow-up.

You will review incoming requests for quotation, research historical information, gather input from internal departments, obtain competitive supplier pricing, and prepare complete quote worksheets for final management review. Once work is awarded, you will transition the job into purchasing by ordering the required materials, tooling, consumables, and outside services.

This role works closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Customer Service, Management, vendors, and outside service providers. Success requires strong organization, attention to detail, follow-through, and the confidence to identify and escalate risks before they affect pricing, production, or delivery.

What You Will Do Quoting and Estimating
  • Review incoming RFQs and determine whether each opportunity involves new or repeat work.
  • Research previous quotes, pricing, run history, cycle times, material usage, tooling, and outside service requirements.
  • Review drawings, specifications, customer requirements, material needs, quality requirements, and other manufacturing inputs.
  • Build accurate and complete quote worksheets using information gathered from internal departments and external suppliers.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Production, Quality, Customer Service, and Management to develop the best overall quoting approach.
  • Obtain the information required for final pricing review and approval.
  • Maintain quote schedules, quote logs, ERP entries, and supporting documentation.
  • Update quote status based on customer feedback, awarded work, lost opportunities, revised requirements, and follow-up activity.
  • Communicate completed quotations to customers when directed.
Procurement and Purchasing
  • Obtain competitive supplier quotations for raw material, tooling, consumables, gages, fixtures, jaws, outside services, and other production requirements.
  • Evaluate suppliers based on price, availability, lead time, quality, delivery performance, and overall suitability.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery dates, and purchasing terms where appropriate.
  • Suggest procurement options that provide the best balance of cost, quality, lead time, production requirements, and risk.
  • Issue purchase orders for awarded work and approved production needs.
Follow up with suppliers to ensure required items and services arrive when needed.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier quotations, purchase orders, and related job documentation.
  • Process returns and RMAs for purchased materials, tooling, consumables, and outside services.
Supplier and Outside-Service Coordination
  • Place and manage orders for outside processing and other required supplier services.
  • Track supplier progress and follow up to support on-time delivery.
  • Communicate delays, pricing concerns, quality issues, and lead-time risks before they affect customer or production commitments.
  • Maintain required outside-service tracking information and provide timely status updates.
  • Work proactively with internal stakeholders to keep quoting and procurement activities moving forward.
