Job Description
The Director, National Accounts (Kaiser and Federal Accounts) serves as Takeda's commercial lead and strategic relationship owner for Kaiser Permanente, with additional responsibility for a select portfolio of nationally significant Medicaid and Federal accounts. The role requires a deep understanding of Kaiser Permanente’s integrated payer-provider model and their policy, pricing, procurement, and reimbursement dynamics. This role also requires a thorough understanding of Medicaid and Federal Accounts such as Tricare and Veteran Affairs (VA).
The Director leads enterprise strategy across Kaiser's integrated payer-provider ecosystem, as well as Tricare and The VA. The Director is responsible for access, contracting, and business performance. The Director owns strategic relationships and develops differentiated account plans that optimize appropriate patient access, formulary and medical policy positioning, reimbursement, and long-term portfolio value.
The Director is the key voice of the customer and translates market and account insights into actionable strategies that inform access, contracting, evidence generation, and launch planning, maintaining the resilience of Takeda’s core brands while establishing next-generation assets as future growth drivers.

Enterprise Strategy & Market Intelligence
Own and execute enterprise account strategies and business plans that advance appropriate access, formulary positioning, and portfolio performance across current and future products. Maintain deep account intelligence on organizational structure, decision-making, benefit design, utilization management, procurement, reimbursement, policy, competitive dynamics, and evolving healthcare delivery models.
Anticipate access barriers, policy shifts, competitive threats, and emerging opportunities; translate insights into concise recommendations for senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
Serve as the internal subject‑matter expert and voice of the customer for assigned accounts.
Executive Account Management & Stakeholder Engagement
Cultivate and leverage trusted relationships with senior payers and healthcare‑system decision‑makers, procurement and contracting executives, policy leaders, population‑health stakeholders, and government program representatives.
Lead stakeholder engagement across national, regional, and local levels as appropriate, representing Takeda in executive customer meetings, strategic business reviews, and industry forums.
Build durable customer partnerships grounded in credibility, insight, appropriate patient access, and mutual long‑term value.
Market Access, Contracting & Portfolio Optimization
Lead account‑specific access, formulary, reimbursement, and contracting strategies in partnership with Pricing & Contracting, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Franchise Leadership, Medical, HEOR, Trade, Patient Services, and other relevant functions.
Lead complex negotiations within approved governance, balancing customer priorities, patient access, competitive dynamics, contract economics, gross-to-net considerations, and long‑term portfolio objectives.
Evaluate contracting opportunities and performance using utilization, market share, access, rebate, pricing, and financial data; develop business cases and recommendations for leadership review.
Monitor execution of approved agreements, resolve implementation barriers, and optimize contract value and access outcomes.
Government & Integrated Healthcare Expertise
Strategically navigate Kaiser Permanente’s integrated payer‑provider model, including formulary decision‑making, medical and pharmacy benefit management, clinical pathways, utilization management, regional variation, and system‑level implementation
