School Nurse

The school nurse will oversee medical administration needs and address medical issues affecting students within Hampden County.

Qualifications:

• Current and valid license as a registered nurse from the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Nurses
• RN required; BSN preferred.
• CPR-BLS

Responsibilities:

• Advise staff on and address day-to-day medical issues/needs and emergencies of students.
• Oversee the administration of all medication and treatments for all students according to guidelines set by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
• Inventory control and record keeping according to state and federal guidelines for all medications.
• He/she will communicate effectively with program director in regard to student and administrative issues.
• Participate in the ordering and storage of medical supplies and medication according to program, state, and federal guidelines.
• When necessary, help to create medical protocols for specific student needs, including Epi Pen training for staff.
