The Town of Agawam is accepting Labor Service applications for DPW Laborer. The minimum salary for this position is $42,244.28 and the maximum salary is $50,559.86. Labor Service applications are available at the Human Resources Office from 8:30AM-4:30PM Monday-Friday at 36 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
Qualified applicants will be assigned a registration number on the Labor Service Register for the job title(s) for which he or she is registered. Applications remain active for a period of no more than 5 years from the date of registration, subject to one renewal of his or her registration number in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 31, Section 28 of the General Laws, and other law and rules.

Laborer
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
Performs general unskilled manual work requiring no special training and little or no experience; does related work as required. This is routine work consisting of unskilled manual tasks requiring the use of hand tools and equipment and construction and maintenance of public works facilities. The duties require ability to do heavy physical labor efficiently. Laborers work under the immediate supervision of a Foreman or other supervisor who lays out the details of each specific assignment and constantly checks the work in process and upon completion.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Willingness to perform routine manual work; ability to lift heavy articles; stamina; ability to understand simple oral instructions; courtesy; excellent physical condition. Preferably some experience in heavy manual labor and completion of a standard grade school course, preferably completion of high school; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Possession of a Class 3 motor vehicle operator’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
