Help shape the next generation of semiconductor test and silicon photonics platforms.

Teradyne is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our centralized Mechanical Engineering organization supporting advanced automatic test equipment (ATE) and emerging silicon photonics technologies. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to complex multidisciplinary programs involving mechanical design, thermal management, precision structures, optical integration, and system-level architecture.

As a key member of our engineering team, you will collaborate with electrical, optical, software, systems, and manufacturing engineers to develop innovative solutions from concept through production. You will help define mechanical architectures, evaluate technical tradeoffs, and contribute to the successful delivery of products that support some of the industry's most advanced technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of mechanical architectures for advanced ATE and silicon photonics systems.
  • Guide technical execution across complex, cross-functional product development programs.
  • Develop solutions involving thermal management, precision mechanical systems, packaging, and system integration.
  • Support teams through important technical decisions, tradeoff analyses, and risk mitigation activities.
  • Help resolve complex engineering challenges where requirements may be evolving or incomplete.
  • Partner across engineering disciplines to develop robust, manufacturable, and scalable products.
  • Mentor and support developing engineers through coaching, design reviews, and knowledge sharing.
  • Help shape engineering standards, design methodologies, and best practices within assigned technology domains.
  • Support products from concept development through qualification and production release.
All About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline;
    Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience developing complex mechanical or electromechanical systems.
  • Experience contributing to product architecture development and technically sophisticated product development programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to build alignment and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong mechanical design, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in environments with evolving requirements and technical ambiguity.
