Type of Appointment IssuedThis position is excluded from the Educational Officers' Bargaining Unit and will be filled as a clear line appointment.
Written Examination/AssignmentA written examination/assignment may be administered to help determine possession of the knowledge and abilities portions of the minimum qualification requirements.
Examples of Duties- Lead the strategic design and system-wide implementation of leadership development to cultivate a pipeline of school and complex area leaders aligned to the Leadership Institute’s and OTM’s HR Plan, and the Department’s initiatives. Empower school and complex area leaders by providing the specialized expertise and tools to catalyze systemic improvements that improve student growth and learning. (Strategy and Design)
- Spearhead the development and delivery of professional learning and support frameworks designed to strengthen the leadership trajectory for school and complex area leaders. Oversee the provision of an array of services, including designing purposeful, ongoing, job-embedded professional learning, coaching/mentoring, facilitation, and serving as a resource to strengthen the leadership pipeline. - Collaborate with stakeholders to plan, develop, and implement school and complex area leadership development across the Department. Establish a system of connection and communication between the school, complex, and state office leaders to ensure shared responsibility. (Collaboration and Communication)
- Manage and oversee metrics and data to inform leadership program effectiveness, impact, and application for reporting to various audiences. (Monitoring and Data)
- Direct the design and implementation of a system-wide school and complex area leadership coaching program. Build capacity by overseeing the development of learning modules and training for coaches.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in education with specialization in education or a subject field appropriate to the area(s) of assignment.
Experience: Eight (8) years of responsible professional work experience in education, of which four (4) years shall have been in teaching and four (4) years in curriculum or program planning, as appropriate.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable, as determined by the Department.
Knowledge: Foundations of curriculum and instruction; instructional media and computers; foundations of American education; tests and measurements; principles of learning and individual differences; curriculum design and development; educational statistics; purposes, methods, subject matter and materials pertinent to the area(s) of assignment; research developments, trends and current issues or problems pertinent to the area(s) of assignment; laws, rules, regulations and administrative procedures pertinent to the area(s) of assignment;
principles and practices of supervision.
Abilities: Plan, direct, coordinate and evaluate curriculum services in several related subject matter areas, or services regarding a broad program area; communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing; operate computer and other business machines; maintain awareness of developments in curriculum or program areas; deal effectively with federal, state, county and departmental officials in accomplishing program goals and objectives.
Salary RangeEOSR-8, $118,497 to $167,742. Department of Education certificated employees will be placed on the salary range in accordance with Department regulations. All others will be placed on the first step of $118,497.
Work Year and BenefitsThis appointment will be on a 12-month basis with vacation and sick leave provided according to applicable regulations.
