Help keep City facilities safe, organized, and running smoothly through parking enforcement, security patrols, and public service
The Department of Facility Maintenance, Public Building and Electrical Maintenance Division is hiring for a dedicated Parking & Security Attendant in Honolulu to help maintain order, enforce parking regulations, provide security patrols, assist the public, and support motor pool activities at City facilities.
What You Will Do- Patrol and enforce parking regulations in City employee and public parking areas, issue citations, coordinate towing, and ensure proper meter function.
- Maintain safety and order by directing traffic, responding to disturbances or emergencies, and acting as a first responder when needed.
- Support motor pool operations by assigning vehicles, directing parking, refueling, scheduling maintenance, and delivering City vehicles.
- Assist the public and City employees by providing information, guidance, and support on parking, facilities, and City policies.
- Document and report incidents through accurate recordkeeping, incident reports, and, when necessary, court testimony.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed for this position.
- This position requires unescorted access in the Joint Traffic Management Center (JTMC). Any employee with unescorted access to secure areas requires a fingerprint-based national criminal history record check prior to assignment to this position.
- May be called back to work outside of normal hours to respond to parking or security emergencies and must provide an after-hours contact number.
- Serves as a disaster response worker.
- Work involves moderate physical activity, including walking, standing, lifting, and carrying.

Minimum Qualification RequirementsAt time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
Education RequirementEquivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
Experience RequirementOne year of work experience involving public contact.
Preferred Experience:
General office and computer experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Valid registration as a Guard with the State of Hawaii Board of Private Detectives and Guards (i.e., possession of a valid State of Hawaii Guard license), at time of application.
The State of Hawaii does not have reciprocity with any other state. You must possess a valid State of Hawaii Guard license at the time of application in order to qualify.
