Public Affairs Planning Specialist

Public Affairs Planning Specialist, TS/SCI Clearance is required. Bishop and Company is searching for a Public Affairs Planning Specialist for one of our military partners.

Responsibilities

Provide Public Affairs (PA) planning services in support of our client’s current and future planning operation, activities and investment (OAIs) and exercise priorities as laid out by the commander during battle rhythm meetings. Assist in the development of Public Affairs communications, resourcing strategies, and guidance for OAIs, emergent issues and strategic and operational plans (OPLANS). Develop Public Affairs and communications strategies and guidance on issues and operations, followed up with documentation to support the client’s operational plans (OPLANS), such as (but not limited to) annexes, fragmenting orders (FRAGOs), planning orders (PLANORDs) and execution orders (EXORDs).

Required to attend meetings and planning sessions that are classified up to TS/SCI level and have ability to access classified, secure networks. Develop Public Affairs and communication strategies in support of the client’s OAIs, write public affairs guidance (PAG), talking points (TP) and other communication products on a daily basis, as well as operational products, such as communication plans (COMPLANs), annexes, fragmenting orders (FRAGOs), planning orders (PLANORDs) and execution orders (EXORDs).

Review Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, Defense Office of Prepublication and Security Review (DOPSR) requests, and Task Management System (TMS) tasks within seven (7) business days of receipt of a request being received by J0

PAC. Conduct detailed DOPSR reviews in accordance with DoD Principles of Information, and Public Affairs security, accuracy, propriety, and policy considerations and all applicable regulations and statutes of manuscripts/publications submitted for release or publication. Submit the report via TMS or email to J0

PAC leadership. This task is performed an estimated one (1) – two (2) times per month.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Knowledge of strategic planning, development of military strategies and plans, and exercise planning.
  • Ability to develop broad, organization-wide communication strategies that support identified communication goals, needs, and objectives.
  • Knowledge of global outreach dissemination techniques and methods, including alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite 365 and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of the U.S. military structure, culture, and language.
  • Excellent communication, briefing, public affairs, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate as a team.
  • Ability for international travel up to 25%.
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Five+ years in Public Affairs and exercises.
Required Degree/Education/Certification

Educational background in communications, public affairs/relations, journalism, history, marketing, political science, and/or international affairs. Must have a valid driver’s license and passport.

Required Citizenship and Clearance

An active DoD TS/SCI Clearance is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a US Government Security Investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.

Compensation

Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. The salary range for this position is typically $90–120K annually. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
