Software Engineer SME

Job Summary

Seize your opportunity to make a personal impact as a Software Engineer SME supporting USPACOM J6 enterprise IT, mission partner interoperability, and Pacific theater operations. This role will help modernize enterprise IT capabilities and strengthen mission partner interoperability across the Pacific.

• Support IT modernization projects from requirements definition through planning, integration, testing, and transition.
• Collaborate with technical teams to mature prototypes, modernization sprints, and enterprise capability improvements.
• Lead software engineering analysis and application modernization efforts, including secure design, integration, and Dev Sec Ops -oriented practices.
• Work with users and technical teams to translate mission needs into maintainable software requirements and implementation plans.
• Collaborate with USPACOM J6 stakeholders, service components, mission partners, and GDIT team members to resolve technical challenges.
• Prepare clear technical documentation, briefings, status inputs, and recommendations for customer and internal leadership.

• Education: Technical training, certification(s), or equivalent experience. A degree is not required.
• Experience: 15+ years of relevant experience supporting the role, mission area, or equivalent DoD/enterprise IT environment.

• Security Clearance: Final Top Secret.
• Abilities: Strong communication, analytical problem-solving, technical writing, customer engagement, coordination across engineering, cybersecurity, operations, and mission partner teams.
• Preferred: Experience supporting USPACOM, combatant command, service component, or joint/coalition mission environments; experience with government site environments and coordinating with military and civilian stakeholders.
• Location: On customer site at Camp Smith, HI.
