Overview

The Department of Transportation, Highways Maintenance and Landscaping Unit is hiring an Equipment Operator III to operate heavy trucks, rollers, loaders and light tractors for construction and maintenance work.

Responsibilities
  • Operate two or more types of motorized equipment such as heavy trucks, heavy rollers, loaders and light tractors.
  • Perform manual work tasks associated with general construction and maintenance work.
  • Operate graders and heavy tractors as an incidental work assignment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • One (1) year of work experience operating at least two (2) of the motorized equipment represented by the class Equipment Operator III (e.g., heavy trucks rated capacity 5 tons or over, rollers 5 tons or over, loaders, and tractors such as D‑4, TD‑6, TD‑9 with bulldozer blades).
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – Class A or B with Endorsement N (tank vehicles 1,000 gallons or more capacity) and no restrictions relating to codes E (manual transmission) and L (air brakes).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and 100 lbs assisted by another person and/or use of equipment (e.g., hoisting equipment, hand truck).
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Reasonable accommodation available for applicants with disabilities.
