Plant Controller

Our client is seeking an experienced Plant Controller to lead the financial operations of its manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, accounting operations, internal controls, and business analysis to ensure accurate financial performance and support strategic decision-making. The Plant Controller will partner closely with plant leadership to drive operational excellence, improve financial visibility, and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and corporate financial policies.

Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Analysis
  • Lead the monthly financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reviews, including Profit Operating Reviews (POR) and site performance updates.
  • Issue complete and accurate financial statements while ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
  • Develop financial analyses that support operational and strategic decision‑making.
  • Create and maintain key financial and operational performance metrics (KPIs).
  • Provide ad‑hoc financial reporting and analysis for leadership as needed.
Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Monitor financial performance against budget and forecast, identifying key variances and recommending corrective actions.
  • Partner with operational leaders to improve forecasting accuracy and financial planning.
Accounting & Internal Controls
  • Maintain and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Oversee accounting operations, including fixed asset management, inventory accounting, physical inventories and cycle counts, and general ledger accuracy.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with Internal Control Questionnaires (ICQ) and compliance initiatives.
Business Partnership
  • Serve as a trusted financial advisor to plant leadership.
  • Provide financial modeling and analysis to support capital investment decisions, pricing strategies, new product development, and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Recommend financial benchmarks and performance indicators to improve business results.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with operations, engineering, supply chain, and leadership teams to drive profitability and operational performance.
Qualifications Core Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, along with Microsoft Outlook and Teams.
  • Experience working with ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience developing financial models and business analyses.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Previous manufacturing finance leadership experience.
  • Experience partnering directly with plant operations and leadership teams.
  • Continuous improvement or Lean manufacturing exposure is a plus.
Work Hours

First Shift, nights and weekends as needed.
