Job Description
Position: Business Consultant
Location: Aiken, SC
Employment Type: Part/Full Time – Part Time, 22.5 hrs per week.
Standard working schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday‑Friday, with an hour for lunch. Must be willing to work flexible schedule; may include evening or weekend hours for special events.
Job Summary: The SBDC Business Consultant provides counseling and delivers programs to individuals, businesses, communities, organizations and other public agencies in the assigned geographic territory. The role requires a broad base of business knowledge, excellent research and analytical skills, creativity in problem‑solving, and the ability to manage multiple projects and clients simultaneously. Multi‑county travel is required.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with private‑sector businesses to help them become leaders and instructors in the local business community.
- Develop specific and relevant areas of expertise within business development, creating new training programs, consulting tools, and research projects responsive to the community’s needs.
- Provide counseling and programs to individuals, businesses, communities, organizations and other public agencies within the assigned territory.
- Apply business theory and practice, including financial analysis, business research, marketing, and accounting.
- Communicate effectively with diverse groups including bankers, government officials and resource providers.
- Represent the SBDC at workshops, Chamber of Commerce events and other public functions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Business‑related discipline required.
- Related experience and proficiency with basic business tools: financial analysis, research, marketing and accounting.
- Proficiency using computers and MS Office.
- Strong public speaking skills and confidence communicating with diverse audiences.
