CEIS | Government is seeking an experienced Civil Superintendent to support large-scale civil and industrial construction activities at the Savannah River Site (SRS). Under the general direction of the Project Manager, the Superintendent will assist in the supervision, coordination, and scheduling of field construction activities and union craft labor to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with contract requirements, schedule commitments, and quality standards.

This role requires strong leadership in highly regulated environments, with hands‑on expertise supporting rebar setting, concrete placement, and safety‑significant construction scopes performed under NQA‑1 quality requirements and ACI codes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in supervising and coordinating daily field construction activities to ensure work is executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and internal project stakeholders.
  • Ensure all work is conducted safely and in compliance with applicable safety requirements, site‑specific plans, and quality expectations.
  • Plan, supervise, and approve work performed by craft personnel and subcontractors, including methods of construction, manpower planning, materials, tools, equipment, rentals, and work schedules.
  • Support and enforce proper execution of rebar installation and structural concrete placement in accordance with ACI requirements and project specifications.
  • Support NQA‑1 concrete foundations and other safety‑significant structures as required by project scope.
  • Assist in developing, monitoring, and updating the project schedule; ensure subcontractor activities align with the project master schedule.
  • Utilize the project schedule to help develop detailed look‑ahead plans and coordinate execution sequencing with subcontractors and field crews.
  • Assist in developing recovery strategies when project schedule or budget performance is at risk.
  • Ensure the project is constructed in compliance with QA programs, Field Work Packages (FWPs), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and established quality guidelines.
  • Maintain field documentation including safety records, daily reports, training documentation, time and equipment usage records, rental logs, manpower reports, owner support requests, and work package tracking documentation.
  • Participate in basic field layout, work instruction development, and field engineering support as needed.
  • Verify lines, levels, and as‑built conditions to support field quality and turnover documentation.
  • Ensure trades personnel complete required safety, quality, technical qualification, equipment operation, and owner‑mandated training.
Requirements
  • Technical college diploma or equivalent combination of technical training and relevant construction experience.
  • 10+ years of construction supervision experience supporting large civil, industrial, or regulated project environments.
  • Minimum 5 years of construction and subcontractor supervision experience in the nuclear industry.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting rebar setting, structural concrete placement, and field execution oversight.
  • Working knowledge of NQA‑1 quality requirements and construction execution expectations.
  • Strong knowledge of ACI code requirements related to concrete placement and civil construction.
  • Ability to successfully supervise field execution in compliance‑driven environments with multiple stakeholders and subcontractors.
  • Strong understanding of construction execution fundamentals including equipment, methods, cost awareness, productivity tracking, scheduling, and safety expectations.
  • Good communication, organizational, and supervisory skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read and interpret CGC Cost Reports.
  • Basic presentation skills.
