SUMMARY:

The Next Bridge Job Coach will be responsible for teaching interns at internship sites. The Job Coach will create checklists and tools to assist in learning job tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties and responsibilities apply to programming for Project SEARCH interns that require specialized instruction and differentiated support in the work site setting. Work with Business Liaison, Department Managers, and Instructor to develop new internship sites.

• Work with the Instructor to assess intern’s skills and gather baseline data.
• Responsible for writing and updating job descriptions, check-lists/task-lists, and plans of necessary modifications for internship rotations.
• Learn all internship rotations and make any modifications (Ex. Labeling, simplifying check-lists, grouping tasks, etc.) necessary for successful completion of the job.
• Trains and coaches the student to meet employer standards and expectations as established
• Write daily reports on the interns work experience.
• To present a professional demeanor and appearance while representing Aiken County Public School District and Next Bridge to families, interns, and partnering staff.
• Ensure compliance with all required regulatory standards, rules and regulations.
• Must have strong computer skills.
• Analyze problems, gather information, utilize resources, and recognize solutions.
• Ensure that all team members receive necessary and timely communication.
• Build natural supports to reduce the amount of time spent with each intern as core vocational skills are developed.
• Transport interns to job shadows, and other work-related appointments in a district vehicle as needed.
• Respond immediately to intern, and/or intern family complaints and concerns.
• Attend Job Coach Trainings and meetings.
• Maintains confidentiality in regard to personal and educational information concerning students and their families.
• Adhere to the ethical standards and codes of the profession, and to the established rules, regulations, and laws governing the Next Bridge program.
• Follows district policies for protecting the health, safety and well-being of students.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or

Experience:

Meets Highly Qualified standards as defined by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001:
Associate degree preferred,
or High School diploma and general education degree with 60 hours college credit from an accredited college or passing score on the Para Pro Assessment. Experience in working with children.

Valid Class D Driver’s License

Completion of coursework and licensure for a Class D driver’s license within 4 months of hire date. Failure to achieve the Class D licensure in 4 months will result in removal from the job coach position with transfer options to other classified positions within the school district that are available (at a lower pay rate).

Oversee and transport Project SEARCH interns in an Aiken County Public School District owned vehicle.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as simple instructions, short correspondence and memos, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write and/or type routine reports and correspondences. Ability to speak effectively before groups of district personnel or organizations.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Application of percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations is required.
