Position Summary

RSI Nuclear is currently recruiting a Nuclear Safety Engineer. This position is located at the Savannah River Site (SRS).

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide and support oversight for Nuclear Safety Federal Oversight
  • Evaluations, Safety Basis Documents (Preliminary Documented Safety Analysis (PDSA), Preliminary Safety Verification Report (PSVR), Documented Safety Analysis (DSA), Safety Evaluation Report (SER), Technical Safety Requirements (TSRs), etc.) and support nuclear safety integration throughout the design and construction evolution including change implementation and configuration control. Participate in and support investigation, discussion, and resolution of nuclear safety issues.
  • Perform or support detailed assessments of nuclear safety processes, procedures, system, and components during engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, testing through commissioning and start-up.
  • Perform walk downs of nuclear safety structures, system and component fabrication and installation activities.
  • Provide and or support nuclear security oversight for physical security, information security, technical security, personnel security, cyber security, nuclear material control and accountability, including vulnerability assessment reviews, classification reviews, physical security system reviews, information security reviews, and DOE Information and Facility Security Plan reviews, nuclear security integration throughout the design and construction evolution including change implementation and configuration control,
  • Provide or support construction oversight of security related structures, systems and components, including ARGUS/TAUS, PIDAS, and MC&A.
  • Perform or participate in walk downs, assessments and or audits of the project’s conduct of security through the design, construction and start-up phases through CD4.
  • Deliverables for all items noted above include assessment plans and associated briefings and reports.
Job Knowledge/Qualifications
  • Experience working on large complex nuclear projects (greater than $100M), with multi-discipline integration is a substantial plus.
  • Experience developing Safety Evaluation Reports to recommend approval of Safety Basis Documents per 10

    CFR
    830 Subpart B is a substantial plus.
  • Commercial Nuclear Safety Experience per 10

    CFR
    50 is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience developing or approving Unreviewed Safety Question (USQ) Evaluations is a plus.
  • Experience at the Savannah River Site is a plus
  • A Professional Engineer License is a plus.
  • Must be considered a Subject Matter Expert throughout the DOE or Commercial Nuclear Complex
  • Experience must include a detailed history demonstrating the ability to resolve difficult technical issues to satisfactory and successful conclusion

Education and Experience
  • Must possess a degree in Engineering, Science, or related discipline. An advanced degree is a plus.
  • Must have 10-20+ years of demonstrated experience developing Nuclear Safety Basis documents (DSAa, PDSAs) per 10
