Tritium Technology Scientist, Intermediate Job Description

The Hydrogen Isotope Science Group at Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is seeking a Tritium Technology Scientist. We want a highly motivated individual to work towards pushing boundaries of hydrogen isotope separations, materials science, impurity removal strategies, hydrogen storage, and novel solution for isotopic separations. The ideal candidate(s) would have a strong background in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, physics, or materials science.

• Lead and contribute to research projects focused on the development of hydrogen isotope processing technologies and characterization of materials for tritium applications.
• Write research proposals aligned to SRNL's core competencies
• Design and conduct experiments, and analyze results,
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams of scientists and engineers.
• Contribute to intellectual property development through patent and copyright applications.

Minimum Qualifications:

• PhD in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering and 1-4 years of experience in an academic or national laboratory environment
• Strong background in fundamental science
• Strong track record of publications in high quality peer-reviewed journals.
• Advanced communication skills involving complicated topics.
• Works safely with particular attention to quality. Complies with all policies and standards.
• For ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance, US Citizenship is Legally Required

Security Clearance Information
This position will require selected candidate to be able to obtain a DOE Security Clearance.
BSRA is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with BSRA require applicants to have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
