Job Responsibilities
Reviews plans and specifications for their completeness and accuracy ensuring submittals are in compliance with the SCDOT Roadside Management standards, District Policies and Resident Maintenance Engineer requirements. Inspects and documents all maintenance contracted work performed on state roadways, right of ways, and bridges ensuring all work is in compliance with SCDOT specifications. Performs cable rail and guardrail inspections per EDM 42 and updates damage found on proper spreadsheets.
Investigates and performs field reviews for driveway installations constructed by SCDOT maintenance forces. Assists ARME with damage claims entered in Risk Management. Performs duties during inclement weather. Performs other related duties as assigned.
A high school diploma and three (3) years of progressively responsible engineering technician related experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
Physical DemandsThe physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time. This position may require occasional travel. This position may require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. This position required driving and walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and natural environmental hazards.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. This position may be exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions and noise.
