Meta is seeking a Connectivity Engineer focused on Data Center Commissioning and Auditing to ensure network and connectivity infrastructure is installed, tested, validated, and production‑ready prior to handoff to operations. This role is embedded in the late construction and commissioning phase, serving as a technical authority for connectivity quality, compliance, and readiness.
Connectivity Engineers in this role work on‑site alongside construction, commissioning, and operations readiness teams to verify that fiber, structured cabling, and connectivity systems meet Meta standards, specifications, and performance expectations before go‑live.
Responsibilities- Lead connectivity commissioning activities for new data centers and major expansions
- Validate completion and readiness of fiber and structured cabling installations prior to turnover
- Perform technical audits and field inspections to ensure contractor work complies with Meta standards, scope, and documentation
- Review and approve fiber test results (OTDR, ILM, power testing) and commissioning reports
- Identify installation defects, quality issues, or readiness gaps and drive corrective actions to closure
- Partner with construction managers, commissioning agents, and vendors to resolve punch‑list items related to connectivity
- Verify labeling, pathways, grounding, room readiness (MMRs, MDFs, IDFs), and cable management
- Participate in network readiness reviews and go‑live signoffs
- Ensure all connectivity assets are fully documented, tested, and accepted prior to handoff to operations
- Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement of commissioning and audit standards
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or equivalent practical experience
- 3+ years of experience supporting data center connectivity during commissioning, QA/QC, or turnover phases
- Strong hands‑on experience with fiber optic infrastructure, structured cabling, and low‑voltage systems
- Proven ability to review and interpret test results, as‑builts, and commissioning documentation
- Experience performing field audits, inspections, or technical acceptance reviews
- Comfortable working on‑site in active construction environments and traveling between projects
- Experience commissioning hyperscale or mission‑critical data centers
- Strong familiarity with OTDR, power meter testing, and fiber acceptance criteria
- Background in QA/QC, commissioning, or operational readiness programs
- Experience working directly with commissioning agents, GCs, and low‑voltage contractors
- Knowledge of Meta‑scale or similar enterprise cabling and connectivity standards
- Strong documentation, issue tracking, and stakeholder communication skills
This is a Contract position based out of Aiken, SC.
Pay and BenefitsPay range: $60.00 - $80.00/hr.
