Designer

Pro Sidian Seeks a Designer
- Engineering (Time and Materials | Non-Exempt) to support an engagement for a liquid waste contractor (Savannah River Remediation [SRR]) at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC, which is owned by the U.S. Department of Energy.

This service supports Environmental Management Sector Clients and Pro Sidian Team Members (# FTe's:
1) work as part of a Engagement Team Cadre (Labor Category 30061) to fulfil T&M
- Time and Materials (T&M) requirements.

The Drafter/Cad Operator I as a SCA Grade position.

Designer
- Engineering Candidates shall work to support requirements for Technical General Support Services (GSSC) related to NAICS: 541690 - Environmental Consulting Services, NAICS: 541690 - Scientific and Technical Consulting Services
- Energy, and NAICS: 591690 - Professional Scientific Technical Consulting Services and

This operator prepares drawings or computer models of simple, easily visualized structures, systems, parts or equipment from sketches or marked-up prints, selects appropriate templates/computer programs or uses a compass and other equipment needed to complete assignments. Drawings and models fit familiar patterns and present few technical problems. Supervisor provides detailed instructions on new assignments, gives guidance when questions arise, and reviews completed work for accuracy.

Typical assignments include:

  • Revisions to the original drawings of a plumbing system by increasing pipe diameters.
  • Drawing from sketches, the building floor plans, determining size, spacing and arrangement of freehand lettering according to scale.
  • Drawing simple land profiles from predetermined structural dimensions and reduced survey notes.
  • Tracing river basin maps and enters symbols to denote stream sampling locations, municipal and industrial waste discharges, and water supplies.
  • Preparing a computer model of a room, building, structure from data, prints, photos. studying a design brief

Thinking of possible design solutions

Researching whether the design will work and be cost-effective

Assessing the usability, environmental impact and safety of a design

Using computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-assisted engineering (CAE) software to create prototypes

Collecting and analysing data from tests on prototypes

Modifying designs and retesting them

Writing regular progress reports and presenting them to project managers and clients

Qualifications

The Designer
- Engineering shall have consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five (5) years, Must be able to use a computer to communicate via email; and proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and related tools and technology required for the position. Work products shall be thorough, accurate, appropriately documented, and comply with established criteria. All employees, in the performance of their respective responsibilities, shall conduct themselves in the highest possible standards of ethical and business conduct.

The candidate shall ensure that duties are performed in a competent and professional manner that meets milestones/delivery schedules as outlined.

Required Qualifications are commensurate with functional and technical requirements of the Drafter/Cad Operator I position. Base Experience/Skills are commensurate with functional and technical requirements of the Drafter/Cad Operator I position.
