Advisory/Project Engineer – 1561 - SRS
- Aiken, SC

Duration: 1 Year with two (2) 1 Year Renewal Option

Duties / Responsibilities- Providing overall engineering and design direction, leadership, and management for assigned projects and tasks.
- Integrating engineering resources for assigned projects by assisting in establishing design criteria, resource forecasts, schedules, and engineering tools for engineering tasks.
- Providing administrative guidance to leads and managers.
- Managing overall scheduling and priority of the tasks and projects assigned.
- Initiating technical programs and making recommendations to management on technical programs based on analysis of customer needs and technology trends, reaching solutions to complex technical problems and influencing solutions in neighboring disciplines.
- Applying technical experience in the field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields, and using other technical resources in the company and external resources to resolve complex problems.
- Incorporating advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes, and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
- Providing leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and being recognized as having expertise in a functional area of technical specialization.
- Recommending research programs for others in groups and assisting in that planning.
- Developing solutions for the most complex technical problems in areas of expertise and adjacent technical fields.
- Influencing technical direction of other parts of the department, acting as a technical communicator across disciplines to optimize the creative solution of technical problems.
- Conceiving needed programs for self and for others in the department.
- Putting other technical needs at SRNS into perspective and sponsoring new ideas in the department.
- Preparing plans including schedules, budgets, and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks for division.
- Developing schedules, monitoring progress, monitoring expenditures of budget, and reviewing quality of work performed.
- Including research, development, testing, and quality assurance requirements; communicating results verbally and in manuscript form.
- Reporting regularly the results and representing SRNS and SRS in technical areas to oversight groups and professional societies.
- Mentoring less senior professionals in communication skills and technical knowledge.
- Maintaining excellent technical credibility through significant contributions toward meeting site missions and goals, issuing reports, making presentations, and involvement in national technical organizations.
- Providing staff augmentation support to SRNS, integrating and managing engineering activities for assigned projects, and supporting development of future projects.
- Managing project tasks and delivering results for cost and schedule of tasks.
- Ensuring engineering services are provided using SRNS processes and procedures.
- Performing field walk-downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed.
- Producing quality documents with attention to detail and meeting management-defined expectations.
- Coordinating, interfacing, and communicating with management, engineering, facility, operations, quality assurance, and test personnel; producing clear, concise, and accurate reports, evaluations, documents, procedures, reviews, comment resolutions, email, and oral presentations.
- Mentoring junior team members and developing their design knowledge.
- Managing the administration, document control, project controls, and quality engineering sections for all assigned projects through section supervisors.
- Resolving conflicts between project direction and technical direction from functional managers.
