Mechanical Process Design Engineer Additional Duties
- Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS.
- Primary responsibilities include:
Engineering analysis, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to:
Process Flow;
Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams;
System Descriptions;
Mechanical Equipment Lists;
Mechanical Equipment Sizing;
Pipe and Valve Specifications;
Failure Analysis;
Accident Analysis;
Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation;
Pipe Stress Analysis;
Material Handling Design;
Fire Protection Design; HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews. - Incorporate advanced technical practices to develop solutions for a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements.
- Engineering services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures.
- Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.
- BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
- The following experience/skills are a requirement for this position:
The candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 15 years design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry. The candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 10 years of experience working at one or more DOE facilities. - Candidate must demonstrate experience creating and revising documentation in one or more of the following areas:
Process Flow;
Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams;
System Descriptions;
Mechanical Equipment Lists;
Mechanical Equipment Sizing;
Pipe and Valve Specifications;
Failure Analysis;
Accident Analysis;
Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation;
Pipe Stress Analysis;
Material Handling Design;
Fire Protection Design; HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews.
- Possession of an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years is preferred.
- Previous SRS Design Engineering experience and working knowledge of SRNS design processes and procedures are preferred.
- Candidate must be able to perform weekly field walk downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed. These walk downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances of over half a mile, climbing of ladders to access remote areas, and dressing out in protective clothing.
