Job Title
Fellow Engineer
Education and ExperiencePh.D. with approximately 10 years of professional experience, or M.S. with 12 years, or B.S. with 15 years. Preferred degree: B.S. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
Top Required Skills- Minimum 15 years of design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry.
- Minimum 10 years of experience working at one or more DOE facilities.
- Experience creating and revising documentation in areas such as Process Flow, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, System Descriptions, Mechanical Equipment Lists, Mechanical Equipment Sizing, Pipe and Valve Specifications, Failure Analysis, Accident Analysis, Finite Element Analysis, ASME Code Design and Evaluation, Pipe Stress Analysis, Material Handling Design, Fire Protection Design, HVAC Design, and Vendor Document Reviews.
- Ability to perform weekly field walk downs of the job site, including working on uneven surfaces, walking distances over half a mile, climbing ladders, and wearing protective clothing.
- Active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years.
- Previous SRS Design Engineering experience and working knowledge of SRNS design processes and procedures.
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required but will be required after award.
Additional Work Requirements- Field walk downs of job sites as described above.
- Clearance "Q".
- Subcontractor must have an active eFOCI registration and approved Facility Level Clearance with DOE/NNSA.
- Travel requires procurement approval and reimbursement does not apply to conferences or trainings.
Duration of the contract: 1 year with an option for up to two additional 1-year option years (subject to discretion of the Hiring Manager). Estimated hours per year: 2080 standard time, 800 overtime.
DutiesApply technical experience in specialized or broad-based fields to resolve complex problems, incorporate advanced technical practices, and develop solutions with minimal guidance. Lead task teams and prepare plans including schedules, budgets, and personnel requirements. Monitor progress, expenditures, and quality. Communicate results verbally and in written form to customers, colleagues, managers, and oversight groups. Prepare reports for external publication.
