Apply technical experience in your field of specialization or broad‑based experience in multiple technical disciplines, and use other technical resources within the company to resolve complex problems. Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes, and difficult coordination or oversight into problem solving and program planning.
Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as an expert in technical areas. Develop solutions to complex technical problems in your field of expertise. Keep informed on technical needs within the company and trends in your field. Lead task teams, prepare plans including schedules, budgets, and personnel requirements for major technical tasks, and monitor progress, expenditures, and work quality.
Communicate results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers, and oversight groups. Prepare reports for external publication.
- Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS.
- Engineering analysis, design development, and generation of design output documents including Process Flow, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, System Descriptions, Mechanical Equipment Lists, Mechanical Equipment Sizing, Pipe and Valve Specifications, Failure Analysis, Accident Analysis, Finite Element Analysis, ASME Code Design and Evaluation, Pipe Stress Analysis, Material Handling Design, Fire Protection Design, HVAC Design, and Vendor Document Reviews.
- Incorporate advanced technical practices to develop solutions for a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes, and difficult coordination or oversight requirements.
- Provide engineering services using SRNS processes and procedures, with programmatic guidance from SRNS.
Education: BS degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering). Alternatively, advanced degree:
PhD with about 10 years’ experience, or MS with 12 years’ experience, or BS with approximately 15 years’ experience.
Required experience:
minimum 15 years in the nuclear or process chemical industry and minimum 10 years at one or more DOE facilities. Demonstrate experience creating and revising documentation in Process Flow, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, System Descriptions, Mechanical Equipment Lists, Mechanical Equipment Sizing, Pipe and Valve Specifications, Failure Analysis, Accident Analysis, Finite Element Analysis, ASME Code Design and Evaluation, Pipe Stress Analysis, Material Handling Design, Fire Protection Design, HVAC Design, and Vendor Document Reviews.
- Possession of an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years.
- Previous SRS design engineering experience and working knowledge of SRNS design processes and procedures.
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required, but will be requested after award.
