Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Fellow Engineer / Mechanical Process Design Engineer to
provide engineering design support for complex nuclear and process engineering projects. This
role is responsible for developing advanced mechanical and process design solutions, producing
engineering documentation, leading technical initiatives, and supporting engineering activities at
DOE nuclear facilities using SRNS design processes and procedures.
This is a senior-level technical position requiring extensive experience in nuclear or process
chemical facility design and a strong background supporting Department of Energy (DOE)
projects.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and review mechanical and process engineering design packages for nuclear and
- Prepare engineering deliverables including:
- Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
- Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- System Descriptions
- Mechanical Equipment Lists
- Equipment Sizing Calculations
- Pipe & Valve Specifications
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- ASME Code Design & Evaluations
- Pipe Stress Analysis
- HVAC Design
- Perform engineering analyses and develop solutions for complex technical problems.
- Lead technical efforts and provide engineering expertise on major projects.
- Prepare project schedules, budgets, technical reports, and engineering documentation.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and project stakeholders.
- Support construction activities through weekly field walkdowns.
- Ensure engineering work complies with SRNS processes, DOE requirements, and applicable industry codes and standards.
One of the following is required:
- Ph.D. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with approximately 10 years of
- OR
- Master's degree with approximately 12 years of experience;
OR - Bachelor's degree with approximately 15 years of experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum 15 years of mechanical/process design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry.
- Minimum 10 years supporting Department of Energy (DOE) facilities
- Experience producing and revising engineering design documentation, including one or
- Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
- Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- System Descriptions
- Mechanical Equipment Lists
- Mechanical Equipment Sizing
- Pipe & Valve Specifications
- Failure Analysis
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- ASME Code Design & Evaluation
- Pipe Stress Analysiso Material Handling Design
- HVAC Design
Candidates must be able to perform weekly field walkdowns, including:
- Working around active construction areas
- Wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE)
