Industrial Engineer

Pro Sidian is seeking an Industrial Engineer
- Engineering to support an engagement for a liquid waste contractor (Savannah River Remediation [SRMC]) at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC, which is owned by the U.S. Department of Energy. This position is located in the Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina Area.

Industrial Engineers use skills in project management and mathematics to better understand the current processes and procedures of their company, then work to improve.

This service supports Environmental Management Sector Clients (For Present / Future Requirements), and Pro Sidian Team Members work as part of an Engagement Team Cadre to fulfill Industrial Engineering requirements. An Industrial Engineer, or Facilities Industrial Engineer, designs, builds, and tests various mechanical devices, like industrial machines, transportation systems, and robotics equipment.

Some of their typical duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following worksite functionalities (Specific Task Order Performance Work Statements May supersede listed tasks for this role):

  • Evaluate current manufacturing practices and identify those needing improvement.
  • Manage production schedules and coordinate services to maximize productivity.
  • Enforce quality control to reduce waste.
  • Improve the efficiency of each production process.
  • Evaluate employees' tasks and responsibilities, identifying procedures or tools to improve productivity.
  • Analyze data to determine the root cause and develop a solution.
  • Perform studies and data analysis.
  • Use enterprise systems to generate reports Competencies required:
    Design;
    General Engineering;
    Technical Competence;
    Planning and Evaluating; and Oral Communication
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications for Industrial Engineer

  • Detail-oriented and able to solve problems independently
  • Lab and field work during studies is highly recommended
  • Ability to operate complex machinery
  • Possess a strong mathematics background
  • Keep up to date with fast-moving developments in science and technology
  • A passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to conduct assessments and audits, independent checks, readiness reviews, or similar within DOE facilities.
  • Ability to function as a consultant in solving problems.
  • History of developing or working with work packages.
  • Familiarity with at least one maintenance/plant operations software package (Smart Plant, Champs, or Maximo).
  • Adequate technical skills to read and understand drawings, diagrams, procurement packages, P&IDs, or similar.
  • Computer competency in the use of Excel and MS Word.
  • Experience working with Design Change Control (specifically change orders and Temporary Modifications)
  • Experience working with Lock Out/Tag Out programs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, analytical skills, and professional attitude.
  • The position may require the ability to pass and maintain a DOE Security Clearance.
