Senior Cost Control Specialist
UDR is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Cost Control Specialist opportunity in Aiken, SC to support the Savannah River Site. Close Date: 7/07/2026. Job #-1560.
DUTIES- Organize, develop, analyze, and maintain financial analysis applications.
- Monitor established objectives and prepare status and management reports that identify variances in the work execution strategy, recommending solutions.
- Maintain cost and schedule control throughout the life cycle of a complex project or work activity.
- Perform moderately complex financial analysis activities, including financial procedures, preparation of financial reports/plans on a periodic or ad hoc basis, and financial planning and analysis techniques such as variance analysis, scenario analysis, and financial and cash flow modeling.
- Act as a financial liaison to operational programs and actively communicate with operational programs.
Analyze the potential impacts of proposed changes on project scope, schedule, cost, and resources, and prepare reports for management.
Ensure all change requests, decisions, and actions are accurately recorded and maintained in a centralized change log.
Work closely with engineering, procurement, construction, and other functional teams to gather input and assess the feasibility and implications of changes.
Monitor adherence to change control processes and ensure all changes meet regulatory, contractual, and organizational requirements.
Generate regular and ad‑hoc reports on change status, trends, and metrics for project management and executive leadership.
Identify and communicate risks associated with proposed changes and work with the risk management team to update the risk register as needed.
Interface with document control to ensure all change‑related documents are properly archived and accessible.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering, construction, operations, estimating, scheduling, and project controls.
- Reviews work for completeness as required by project specifications and scope definitions.
- Strong problem‑solving, analysis, and interpersonal skills as well as oral and written communication skills.
A 40‑hour work week is scheduled. SRS utilizes various work schedules, including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and a 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and four days on week
B). Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has a 30‑minute lunch. Work hours in excess of forty hours a week may be required, as authorized by SRNS management.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- A Master’s degree in business / construction management / technical / engineering or a related area and 2 years of practical experience.
- A Bachelor’s degree in business / construction management / technical / engineering or a related area and 5 years of practical experience.
- An Associate’s degree and 8 years of practical experience.
- A high school diploma and 12 years of relevant experience.
Possesses strong personal computer skills and considerable proficiency in the use of automated accounting and budgeting systems as tools for performing required duties.
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSArea Security Access:
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments.
Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred.
