Position Description

The Anatomic Pathology Manager oversees daily operations of the Histology and Cytology labs, including the gross cutting room. The role integrates Anatomic Pathology functions across departmental shifts, manages workflow, coordinates with pathologists, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. The manager collaborates with medical directors and other experts to provide guidance and strategic leadership.

Duties
  • Assist in both short‑ and long‑range A/P laboratory plans that align with the mission, vision, and strategic business objectives.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead, together with the Medical Director and Clinical Laboratory, the integration of A/P functions across all shifts—handling scheduling, monitoring, data collection and presentation, and the implementation of approved initiatives.
  • Assist the director, clinical laboratory, and other leaders in ensuring compliance with all state, federal, and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Coordinate and allocate A/P activities to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date policies, procedures, record‑keeping, QA/QC, and testing documentation.
  • Ensure lab safety and appropriate ergonomics throughout the A/P laboratory.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Anatomic Pathology preferred (a B.S. in the physical sciences may be considered if paired with relevant clinical lab experience). Advanced management degrees or courses highly preferred.
  • Experience with escalating levels of responsibility and a demonstrated ability to manage staff toward departmental goals. Strong investigative, problem‑solving, and workflow understanding of a clinical laboratory.
  • Registration by ASCP or equivalent board of registry preferred.
