EMS Shift Manager

Overview

This position ensures all requests for Emergency Services for Aiken County are handled promptly and appropriately. This involves overseeing the duties of shift personnel, performing rescue operations and providing patient care at the paramedic level.

• Shift Management – monitor dispatch to ensure the appropriate personnel and equipment are sent to each call; track locations of ambulances, quick response vehicles, and private 911 providers; base decisions on proximity and required level of care; review all records at the end of the shift for completeness, accuracy, and patient care quality.
• Patient Care – respond to calls during the shift, may be the first responder to stabilize situations until an ambulance arrives; responsible for extrications during the shift and for evaluating the need for specialized resources or mutual aid.
• Administrative Duties – complete performance evaluations on shift members, review timesheets, and create required accident/injury or other reports.
• Community Relations – interact with internal and external agencies and the public for education and complaint resolution.
• Training – participate in training as needed to maintain the highest level of patient care and ensure that shift members receive training based on assessment of patient records submitted.

Moving patients up to 500 pounds; mechanical extrication equipment up to 100 pounds; supply boxes up to 40 pounds.
