Cybersecurity Engineer – Aiken, SCJob Overview
We are seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to support our Aiken, SC location.
Responsibilities- Assist senior analyst in conducting forensic examinations of digital devices, including computers, mobile phones and storage media.
- Perform documentation of examination processes and findings, ensuring adherence to chain of custody protocols.
- Experience preparing detailed reports summarizing forensic analysis results for legal and other stakeholders.
- Experience preparing and updating policies and procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with Information Technology (IT) subject matter experts and cyber security response teams.
- Collaborate with team members on investigations, contributing to the identification of findings.
- Stay current with developments in digital forensics, cyber security, forensic law, mobile devices and encryption/decryption methods.
Bachelor degree in an IT related discipline (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Digital Forensics, Cyber Security); or Non‑related Bachelor degree with 2 years proven performance in related assignment(s); or Associate Degree in IT related discipline (e.g. Information Technology, Computer Technology, Software Engineering); or Non‑related Associate Degree with 4 years proven performance in related assignment(s). In lieu of degree, a high school diploma with at least 6 years of equivalent knowledge and experience is acceptable.
RequiredSkills
- Familiarity with cloud security concepts or compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, RMF, or NIST SP 800-series.
- Knowledge of basic cybersecurity protections, principles, or frameworks (e.g., NIST).
- Knowledge of basic computer and networking concepts, principles, and practices.
- Strong written communication and composition abilities.
- Ability to participate in group problem solving and communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical personnel.
- Willingness to ask for help and accept guidance from more senior technical personnel.
- Ability to conduct timely research using available resource materials.
- Willingness to learn complex cybersecurity requirements and regulatory environments.
- Ability to work on‑site with limited teleworking options.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- An active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years.
- US Citizenship.
- Exposure to working in an enterprise IT environment.
- Experience working on collaborative technical or research projects.
- Proactive desire to stay current with evolving cloud technologies and cybersecurity trends.
- Ability to think critically and provide actionable guidance to technical or compliance‑based challenges.
- Educational or work‑related experience with Microsoft cloud services (Azure, M365, etc.) or other major SaaS platforms.
- Experience with forensic tools such as Cellebrite, Magnet Forensics, Axiom or Open Text.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security, GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst.
- Experience with Security Information and Event Management tools.
- Experience preparing and updating policies and procedures.
- Effective collaboration skills with IT subject matter experts and cyber security response teams.
- Effective collaboration skills with team members on investigations, contributing to the identification of findings.
- Current with developments in digital forensics, cyber security, forensic law, mobile devices and encryption/decryption methods.
$100,000 – $140,000. The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good‑faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
