Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by:
- Research sources of supply and alternative materials, document competitive quoting, review and process purchase requisitions for materials and supplies.
- Follow up on back orders of manufactured and procured materials, expedite delivery of orders, make special arrangements for delivery as needed, and communicate to the respective departments the expected delivery dates and potential shortages.
- Plan the manufacture of all products through the production facility in accordance with assembly procedures and standard times. Release production orders in the required time frame.
- Ensure purchasing and planning documents are processed in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Update SAP data as needed and work with vendor and/or accounting to reconcile PO discrepancies.
- Have knowledge of inventory procedures in establishing and maintaining reorder points, reorder quantities and lead-times.
- Conduct or direct negotiations with vendors on rejections, disposition, and adjustment of non-conforming materials.
- Promote and maintain good business relationships with suppliers.
Recommend procedures to improve quality and reduce costs, as well as keep informed of new developments in related commodities. Share updates with the Materials department. Support plant-wide Safety initiatives.
What will help you thrive in this role?- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or General Engineering
- 3-6 years of experience in Purchasing and Planning experience (required)
- Microsoft Word & Excel (required)
- SAP or similar ERP system experience (required)
- APICS certification would be beneficial
- Knowledge of a variety of commodities would be a plus
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Good time management and multi-tasking skills
- Travel may be required (up to 10%)
