Senior Buyer - Strategic Purchasing

Hybrid role per Rolls‑Royce HR Policy. Minimum two days per week onsite. Working locations:
Aiken, SC or Novi, MI.

This role lies within our Power Systems business in North America, supporting the procurement of production materials for a range of energy, industrial, marine and defense applications.

• Process purchasing award summaries and purchasing documents for suppliers directly related to production material.
• Assist in the development of International Commodity Team strategies that align with Global/Regional Purchasing and Logistics Objectives.
• Manage cross‑functional projects on time and within budget.
• Develop sourcing lists and monitor supplier performance.
• Aggressively resolve all pricing, invoicing and contract related issues with the suppliers.
• Negotiate pricing, terms and annual contracts with suppliers.
• Evaluate and select new suppliers based on common practices and negotiated agreements focused on price, quality, delivery and other required services.
• Maintain open communication between internal departments, management, and suppliers.

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Materials Management, or Business Finance and five years of procurement, materials management, supplier cost analysis, or supply chain management experience; OR
• Nine years of experience in procurement, materials management, supplier cost analysis, or supply chain management.
• Minimum two years’ experience handling confidential sensitive matters with discretion.
• Ability to travel — domestic and international — and work flexible hours.

• Excellent negotiation skills.
• Experience in purchasing of casting products for heavy industrial applications.
• Excellent working knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures.
• Excellent financial/cost analysis and problem‑solving skills for very complex issues.
• Strong knowledge of production planning, supply chain, and/or materials management processes.
• Strong global knowledge of suppliers and international/domestic activities.
• Strong organizational, planning, and follow‑up skills.
• Strong oral, written and presentation communication skills, and the ability to understand the needs of the internal customer.
