Description
The City of Aiken is accepting applications for a Utilities Technician to join our Engineering & Utilities Department.
Examples of Duties
- Checks water leaks, determine the severity and reports their findings to the Utility Coordinator and/or Supervisor
- Performs pressure checks when customers have pressure issues
- Completes SCDOT encroachment permits when needed and turns them into Engineering
- Turn in proper paperwork to the Utility Office personnel
- Enter information into the GIS system
- Is on call for the Utility Department
- Performs general clerical work as required
- Other assigned duties as needed
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two to three years Utility experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions
- Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous of fellow employees, citizens, and businesses while performing repair and maintenance duties
- Be familiar with operating and entering information into the GIS system
- Have knowledge and understanding of SCDOT encroachment permits
- Valid state issued driver's license in good standing
