Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor the Wenzel coordinate measuring machine during production, loading and executing existing measuring programs.
  • Perform dimensional, form, and position (GD&T) tolerance checks on crankcase components according to drawing specifications, including geometries, positions, and surface characteristics, and conduct in‑process inspections during ongoing series production.
  • Interpret measurement results, identify deviations or out‑of‑tolerance conditions, perform root‑cause analysis, and initiate and track corrective actions.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and measurement specifications, and work with standard hand and electronic measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Maintain and monitor measuring equipment, support SAP documentation, and keep measurement records and reports.
  • Support production with quality questions, sampling, and process approvals, and collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams.
  • Maintain cleanliness, order, and safety, troubleshoot basic machine or measurement issues, reduce non‑value‑added work, perform special projects as required, and promote compliance culture in line with the Rolls‑Royce Code of Conduct.
Position Requirements
  • Completed vocational training as an industrial or tool mechanic, or a comparable 3.5‑year technical apprenticeship in a metalworking field, or completion of an apprenticeship or training program.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, or industrial tooling in a heavy‑dug machining environment.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic ability to operate a coordinate measuring machine (Wenzel preferred) and run and monitor existing measuring programs safely; confident with hand and electronic measuring instruments.
  • Focus on machine operation rather than full independent programming; full programming capability developed on the job over time (AUKOM Level 1/2, Quartis Basic/Advanced).
  • Basic understanding of measurement processes, coordinate systems, machine axes, and alignment; ability to read blueprints, GD&T, angles, directions, part orientation; basic knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.
