Welder II / Welder III

Shift: 1st Shift – Starts at 5:00 AM

Position Summary

We are seeking skilled Welder II and Welder III candidates to join a manufacturing team supporting products that help protect the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces. These positions perform high-quality welding on steel and aluminum components while maintaining strict quality and safety standards in a collaborative production environment.

Candidates should have experience with GMAW and/or GTAW welding, be comfortable reading complex blueprints and work instructions, and possess strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Opportunities are available for multiple experience levels based on qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

Welding & Fabrication

  • Perform high-quality welds on steel and aluminum components.
  • Successfully complete required weld qualifications using:
  • GMAW-P (Pulse MIG)
  • GTAW (TIG)
  • Load and unload parts onto welding fixtures using hand tools, ratchets, and pneumatic tools.
  • Secure parts to fixtures and prepare assemblies for welding.
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with quality specifications.

Production Support

  • Read and interpret:
  • Blueprints
  • Complex drawings
  • Work instructions
  • Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS)
  • Set up and adjust tooling, fixtures, machine controls, and equipment as needed.
  • Troubleshoot welding and production issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Complete work orders, labor reporting, quality documentation, and production records.

Material Handling

  • Move materials, fixtures, and finished products using:
  • Hoists
  • Pallet jacks
  • Forklifts (certification required)
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Team Support

  • Work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist with training and mentoring other welders as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Technical welding training from a vocational school, accredited technical college, Hobart Institute, Arc Labs, or similar program.
  • Ability to successfully pass weld qualification tests in both steel and aluminum using GMAW-P and GTAW.
  • Working knowledge of:
  • Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS)
  • Weld gauges
  • Precision measuring tools
  • Ability to:
  • Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Apply shop math and calculate dimensions.
  • Understand work orders, tooling requirements, and machine settings.
  • Operate welding equipment safely and efficiently.
Experience Requirements

Welder II

  • Minimum 2 years of GMAW or GTAW welding experience on aluminum or carbon steel.

Welder III

  • Minimum 4 years of GMAW or GTAW welding experience on aluminum or carbon steel.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot welding issues and assist in training less experienced team members.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 32 pounds.
  • Ability to apply up to 32 pounds of torque using hand tools.
  • Ability to safely operate:
  • Hoists
  • Pallet jacks
  • Forklifts (certification required)
  • Ability to step approximately 14 inches onto a forklift.
  • Welder III candidates must also be able to:
  • Operate a scissor lift.
  • Step approximately 27 inches onto the lift.
  • Work comfortably at heights up to 15 feet.
