ER/ED Clinical Nurse Educator (RN) – Aiken Regional Medical Centers, located in Aiken, South Carolina, is a 273‑bed acute care facility dedicated to delivering high‑quality, safe healthcare to the community. This role supports the Emergency Department by providing education, expertise, and professional development to nursing staff.

Responsibilities
  • Consistently exercises appropriate judgment and discretion in the provision of duties.
  • Provides leadership in assessing, providing, and evaluating education and practice needs. Utilizes internal and external resources to enhance nursing practice and staff development.
  • Participates/Leads various committees as needed with focus on nursing practice and bedside consultation.
  • Serves as a role model, clinical expert, and mentor.
  • Maintains/facilitates compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Assists with development and coordination of competency‑based orientation programs.
  • Facilitates competency evaluation, unit orientation, and the preceptor program for assigned areas.
  • Collaborates with members of the health care team to plan and implement changes in practice to improve quality of care.
  • Participates in hospital clinical orientation and the nurse residency program.
  • Coordinates and teaches ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, Basic Arrhythmia, and other courses as appropriate.
  • Provides direction and consultation to staff and nursing directors, managers, supervisors regarding review and revision of nursing practice policies and procedures.
  • Participates and coordinates with staff development on student rotations, education offerings, and orientation.
  • Completes frequent staff needs assessment and gap analysis of practice standards and quality outcomes.
  • Supports staff by assisting them to identify their needs as they progress from novice to experts.
  • Assists in the development of patient education materials.
  • Collaborates with transition coordinators to identify patient needs and education requirements for patients and staff.
  • Utilizes direct adult learning principles in educational offers for staff.
  • Assists nurses to increase their skills in assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of patient care through individual instruction, in‑service education and patient care conferences.
  • Plans and presents professional nursing programs.
  • Functions as role model and clinical preceptor for professional nursing students affiliated with ARMC.
  • Collaborates with community organizations as a resource for health education.
  • Identifies relevant clinical practice questions and uses evidence‑based implementation practices.
  • Utilizes evidence‑based practice findings to assist staff to improve quality of care for patients.
  • Performs direct patient education activities.
  • Facilitates orientation, annual competencies and continuing education for individual departments.
  • Facilitates PI projects based on clinical evidence.
  • Facilitates communication of policy, procedure and protocol changes that affect practice in each area where identified.
  • Identifies department‑specific equipment and products requiring education.
  • Facilitates education on new equipment and products.
  • Works with other educators and clinical nurse practice coordinators to develop cross‑departmental educational programs.
  • Responsible for education tracking of assigned employees while communicating delinquencies to employee, ED director and staff development manager.
  • Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and clinical competency by obtaining a minimum of 15 continuing education contact hours on an annual basis.
