Seeking a Principal Engineer
- Quality Control (Mechanical/Piping/Welding Inspector) to support our federal government client in Aiken, SC.

Responsibilities
  • Provide quality control support to construction management and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and to accurately status the results.
  • Establish priorities which support construction/operations needs.
  • Resolve complex problems which develop during the implementation of quality activities by coordinating with internal and external departments.
  • Provide leadership which inspires efficient performance of assignments, safe work habits, timely exchange of information and each individuals' commitment to site policies.
  • Participate in contract discussions relating to quality activities.
  • Prepare comprehensive status reports for construction quality activities.
  • Review and approve subcontractors quality procedures and monitor their adherence to those procedures.
  • Coordinate the activities of assigned quality control engineers and with other construction departments to ensure that construction is in compliance with site specifications and standards.
  • Prepare quality procedures to ensure proper inspection, testing and surveillance activities are being performed.
  • Provide effective quality training programs and ensure assigned personnel are qualified to perform assigned tasks.
  • Prepare performance evaluations of assigned personnel.
Additional Duties
  • Develop, revise, and perform peer reviews of Quality Control Inspection Plans related to mechanical, piping and welding, in accordance with Design Output documents, Codes, and Standards
  • Perform field related inspections in accordance with Quality Control Inspection Plans
  • Document inspection results on applicable inspection records and issue Non‑Conformance reports as required
  • Review product and process compliance with all specified drawings, specifications, and other requirements through inspection and/or review of supplied materials and equipment
Work Hours

A 40 hour work week is scheduled. The client utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s, 4/10’s, and 9/80’s. Work week excludes the client holidays. Each workday has 30‑minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager. The anticipated work schedule is Monday
- Friday, 6:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Area Security Access

Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After the award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments.

Qualifications

Required

  • Prior work experience working under an ASME NQA-1 quality program
  • Prior DOE work experience
  • Well‑developed organizational skills with good communication skills
  • Foster a work environment that promotes safety, quality, openness, trust, communication, teamwork, and customer satisfaction
  • Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a DOE "Q" security clearance

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and at least 8‑10 years of practical experience in construction inspection or related areas; OR
  • Associate's degree and 10‑12 years of practical experience considered equivalent; OR
  • High school diploma and 12‑16 years of practical experience considered equivalent.
  • Certification with continuing technical training is required for performance of inspections and surveillance activities.

Preferred

  • Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years
  • Practical field experience in mechanical, piping, and welding quality control within the last 16 months
  • Candidates with an AWS CWI or prior SNT‑TC‑1A VT Level II certification
