JOB TITLE
Principal Quality Control Engineer
RESPONSIBILITIES- Supervise and direct quality control engineers assigned to perform inspections and surveillance in support of project work and/or maintenance activities.
- Provide quality control support to construction management and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and to accurately status the results.
- Establish priorities which support construction/operations needs.
- Resolve complex problems which develop during the implementation of quality activities by coordinating with internal and external departments.
- Provide leadership which inspires efficient performance of assignments, safe work habits, timely exchange of information and each individuals' commitment to site policies.
- Participate in contract discussions relating to quality activities.
- Prepare comprehensive status reports for construction quality activities.
- Review and approve subcontractors quality procedures and monitor their adherence to those procedures.
- Coordinate the activities of assigned quality control engineers and with other construction departments to ensure that construction is in compliance with site specifications and standards.
- Prepare quality procedures to ensure proper inspection, testing and surveillance activities are performed.
- Provide effective quality training programs and ensure assigned personnel are qualified to perform assigned tasks.
- Prepare performance evaluations of assigned personnel.
- Develop, revise, and perform peer reviews of Quality Control Inspection Plans related to electrical and I&C in accordance with Design Output documents, Codes, and Standards.
- Perform field related inspections in accordance with Quality Control Inspection Plans.
- Document inspection results on applicable inspection records and issue Non‑Conformance reports as required.
- Review product and process compliance with all specified drawings, specifications, and other requirements through inspection and/or review of supplied materials and equipment.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and at least 8–10 years of practical experience in construction inspection or related areas.
- Associate's degree with 10–12 years of practical experience considered equivalent.
- High school diploma with 12–16 years of practical experience considered equivalent.
- Well‑developed organizational and supervisory skills and good communication talents.
- Certification in areas of responsibility with ongoing programmatic training per the project quality program.
- Prior work experience under an ASME NQA‑1 quality program.
- Prior DOE work experience.
- Foster a work environment that promotes safety, quality, openness, trust, communication, teamwork, and customer satisfaction.
- Area Security Access:
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” clearance.
- Active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years.
- Practical field experience in electrical and instrumentation and controls (I&C) quality control within the last 16 months.
- Location:
100% onsite. Local candidates or willing to relocate at the candidate's expense. - Anticipated work schedule:
Monday–Friday 6:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. - Estimated hours per year: 2080 standard, 600 overtime.
- Contract duration:
One year with the option to extend for up to two additional years.
