Quality Control Engineer

Level: Grade 9
Working Pattern:
Full Time, 4 ten (10) hour days during a Monday through Thursday work week.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost.
- Respond to line calls with immediate corrective action using PDCA, 5 Whys, 8D, and A3 tools.
- Develop long-range corrective measures through root‑cause analysis consistent with corporate objectives.
- Provide accurate and timely data to management regarding quality concerns.
- Design and implement control plan/inspection routings.
- Support the procurement and maintenance of gauges and measuring equipment for quality control initiatives throughout the facility.
- Perform process, machine and gauge capability studies.
- Keep management abreast of progress, developments & pending problems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Mechanical, or Industrial engineering and 3 years of experience in quality or manufacturing engineering; OR
- 7 years of experience in quality or manufacturing engineering.

- Strong knowledge of the practical application of quality engineering science and technology, including principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the production of internal combustion engines.
- Strong knowledge of quality control, raw materials, manufacturing processes, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of engines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of MTU products.
- Working knowledge of gauge calibration and test equipment.

The position requires a compressed work schedule of four ten (10) hour days during a Monday through Thursday work week, with overtime as business requires and causal overtime expected. The role involves computer work inside and outside the work environment, occasional wet conditions, and exposure to noise.
Physical demands include standing, sitting, walking, climbing, stooping, balancing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, squatting, grasping, and manipulating items. Employees may be required to push, pull, carry, lift, or move materials weighing 10-50 pounds, occasionally during the course of a week. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and color vision; inspection of MTU America engine products under a fluorescent black light is also required.
