Telecom Technician - OSP

Position Overview

Operator – Outside Plant Telecommunications at Savannah River Site (SRS). This role is performed under the subcontract of Amentum Technology Inc. (ATI) to Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS). The operator supports the operation and maintenance program that manages voice and data services at SRS.

• Install, splice, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair copper and fiber cables (multimode and single mode) and terminals in aerial, buried, underground, and building environments.
• Perform outside plant (OSP) activities for work orders and trouble tickets, including material management of outside plant copper and fiber cables.
• Locate underground cable for interference and assist cable‑placement engineers in field verification of cables, routes, conduit, and telecommunication manholes.
• Install fiber‑optic splice cabinets and enclosures and maintain splicing and testing equipment.
• Test cables using optical time‑domain reflectors (OTDR) and power meters, and provide cable information for new facilities.
• Update site drawings and provide new cable information to responsible personnel.
• Work in manholes and outdoors; forklift operation is a plus but not required.

• Outside plant fiber and copper knowledge; experience with Cat5e, Cat6a, single‑mode, and multimode fiber installation, termination, and repair.
• 3–5years of relevant experience.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Current driver’s license.
• Successful alcohol and substance abuse screening.
• Ability to obtain DOE security clearance.
• Flexible hours and willingness to work beyond standard 0900–1700 schedule.
• Certified Outside Plant Certification and Light Brigade Certification.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50lb, stand for extended periods, and work in manholes and outdoors.

$42 per hour. The compensation range may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, and other factors.
