Maintenance Crew Leader
The City of Aiken is seeking a Maintenance Crew Leader to join our Public Services Department in the Buildings and Ground Division. The Crew Leader serves as team lead in the beautification of City parkways and facilities. This position trains staff in appropriate use of equipment, policies/procedures, and safety guidelines.
Examples of Duties- Oversees field crews
- Operates push and riding mowers, brush chipper
- Maintain parkways, right of way, and removal of roadside debris
- Installation of sod, trees, and other plant material
- Application of chemicals with supervision
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to train workers in usage of small equipment
- Ability to cope with outdoor weather conditions
- Consistent walking, stooping, and lifting
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Knowledge of grounds maintenance; irrigation experience (preferred)
- Experience with rubber tire backhoes, front end loaders, tractor operation and repair experience (preferred)

Retirement:
Full-time employees participate in the Defined Contribution 401(a) Retirement Plan. After one year of employment, the employee will begin contributing 6% to the Plan, with the City making a matching 6% contribution. Employees are fully vested after 5 years of service.
