Land Advisor II

About the Role
We are currently seeking a Land Advisor II to join a collaborative upstream land team based in Calgary. This is a hands-on, contracts-focused role supporting mineral land activities across Alberta assets. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing mineral leases, contracts, and associated land activities, with exposure to acquisitions and divestments (A&D) and asset lifecycle management. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, draft, and manage mineral land contracts and agreements (e.g., leases, JOAs, farmouts, pooling agreements)
- Support the acquisition, monetization, and divestment of surface and subsurface rights
- Provide contract stewardship, including tracking obligations, expiries, and compliance
- Conduct title analysis and ownership verification, including curing title defects where required
- Support A&D transactions, including due diligence, contract review, and post-closing activities
- Develop and execute commercial agreements, ensuring internal alignment and risk mitigation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including legal, operations, joint venture, and finance
- Maintain strong external relationships with landowners, partners, and regulatory bodies
- Support negotiation activities and assist in dispute resolution where required
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, data accuracy, and system optimization
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in land
- Strong background in mineral land and contracts
- Experience with:
- Lease agreements and contract drafting
- Joint Operating Agreements (JOAs), farmouts, pooling, etc.
- Title and ownership analysis
- Exposure to A&D / divestments is considered a strong asset
- Proven ability to work in a hands-on, execution-focused role
Skills & Competencies
- Strong contract analysis and drafting skills
- Solid understanding of mineral land tenure, leases, and obligations
- Experience with land systems (e.g., CS Land, Accumap) preferred
- Strong Excel and data management skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and risk mitigation
